Digital Imaging
Purpose:
- To learn to express yourself through digital art.
- To learn techniques with the digital camera.
- To learn techniques with Photoshop Elements.
To Do:
- Create a portfolio of 7 digital images as samples of the quality work that you can produce.
Timeline:
- 10 days.
Requirements:
- Learn basic techniques of Photoshop - Do the following tutorials under the Help menu:
- Photoshop Elements Quickfix
- Fixing a scanned image.
- Harnessing the power of layers.
- Liquify gallery
- Animate with layers (optional)
- The following projects will become part of your digital image portfolio:
- Colorizing an Image.
- Technical Requirements:
- Layers.
- Opacity.
- Brushes.
- Print Requirements:
- Black and White photo and Colorized photo - 2 per page in iPhoto.
- Paste the two photos onto construction paper for display.
- Technical Requirements:
- Transform Mona Lisa using layers of fruit images.
- Selecting tools.
- Layering one image over another.
- Pick 5 more types of images from "Manipulated Photography."
- Each digital manipulated photo should include:
- Tell type of photo manipulation.
- Give the photo a creative title.
- Include your name in lower right corner.
- Colorizing an Image.
- As images are completed they will be posted on the web as part of your portfolio.
- Extra options: create an animation, cd jewel case cover (front and back) for portfolio CD, or a magazine cover.
Evaluation:
- Please do the Digital Imaging Rubric with another group's animation.
Final Steps:
- Images placed on the web as an online portfolio.
- Save images in your Pictures folder in a folder named "Manipulated Images" and a copy of each picture in your "Public" folder in a folder names "Portfolio."
- Create a Keynote Presentation with all 7 of your photos. Include the following:
- Title Slide.
- Individual slides for each Picture.
- Creative title for each picture and name of the type of manipulation.
- Credits slide. Giving credit to the original creators of the images.
- Go to the next project.
