WEB PAGE BASICS

  • Web pages are non-linear.
  • Make it easy to get from one part of the site to another.
  • Use menus so learners can get to any other page from the page they are on.
  • Each page should stand-alone. Pages can and will be accessed in any order you can imagine.
  • Pages should be attractive and consistent.
  • Pages should not have too much text and /or two many graphics. Graphics need to be useful or they add to download time.
  • It is better to add a page than to have too much information. Determine what is important information and trash the rest.
  • Use a consistent design theme for main sections. Themes help learners see how the site works without overload.
  • All unit pages should operate the same way.
  • Make instructions clear. Assume learners won't read every page.
  • Provide contact information e-mail link.
