One of the most popular programs of the Michigan Higher Education Assistance and Student Loan Authorities, the MI-CASHE scholarship search service has been redesigned and enhanced. The features of MI-CASHE have been retained and Michigan residents will still receive national and Michigan specific scholarship information. This service is now known as MI-SEARCH.
The service is now available free on the Internet. The Michigan Department of Treasury’s Student Financial Aid web site is www.MI-StudentAid.org. From this site, a link is provided to two national scholarship database services.
Using either service, a Michigan student will receive information about any Michigan-specific scholarships listed in the database that match the student’s profile information. This is in addition to any scholarships available to students nationwide.
Mailing in an application and waiting for the results is no longer necessary.
If a student does not have access to the Internet, they can simply contact the Office of Information & Resources, and they will mail the Michigan-specific scholarship information. Although they are now known as the Office of Information & Resources (OIR), the toll-free number remains 1-877-FA-FACTS (323-2287).
The www.MI-StudentAid.org web site is ready to assist. In addition, updated versions of the publications “The 5-W’s of Financial Aid” and “The Michigan Postsecondary Admissions and Financial Aid Handbook” are available. There are plans to put this handbook on their web site as well.
They can be contacted for any questions or information at the following:
