volunteersmile.jpgAll students at Holland Christian High School are required to meet a minimum service hour requirement.  These requirements are often surpassed by many students.  The required hours are,
9th Grade: 5 Hours
10th Grade: 10 Hours
11th Grade: 15 Hours
12th Grade: 15 Hours

Holland Christian added a service hour component as a requirement for graduation as an attempt to encourage students to take their faith and beliefs out into the world.  Jesus said, “whoever wants to become great among you must become your servant,” and “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”  As people of God, saved by grace, we feel called to live a life of service for God.  It is our desire that students have the joy of experiencing different and diverse opportunities to serve God by serving others.  Many times we do not know the joy of something until we actually experience it ourselves, so we want to encourage, support, and sometimes prod students out of their comfort zones and into new areas of experience.

Service hour experiences are no respecter of persons.  God has given all of us gifts that we can use for others.  Every student can feel a sense of accomplishment as they use the unique gifts and opportunities that God has given them.  Students are encouraged to contact their church elder/deacon/council member for ideas and or needs that exist within their church.  Be creative and adventuresome, caring and compassionate, be a leader and a servant, as you have been blessed, be a blessing.

The Service Hours criteria can be found, as can the service hours report and current opportunities, on the right hand side of the website.
