Any parent will tell you that preschool children brim with boundless curiosity, energy, joy . . . the list goes on. From a wholly Christian perspective, our preschool program seeks to guide that curiosity, harness that energy, and utilize that joy to shape these little lives for the many years of learning that are to come. Our teaching staff is highly qualified to help you nurture your child. All preschool teachers hold four-year or Master's degrees and hold Red Cross certification for CPR and First Aid. They are selected for their dedication to Christ, their academic qualifications, and their nurturing character.

Holland Christian offers preschool programs for 3- and 4- year olds and a Young 5's program. Holland Christian also offers a Spanish immersion preschool program for 3- and 4-year olds.

Our preschool curriculum revolves around six key learning experiences:

Faith Development nurtured through Bible stories and daily devotions.
Discovering God’s World through everything from scientific exploration to field trips.
Developing Kindergarten Readiness
in introducing letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and more.
Encouraging Social Development
by guiding children toward a healthy self-image and fostering Christ-like behavior toward others.
Cultivating Creativity
from drawing to drama, crayons to clay, teachers use a wide range of activities and mediums to nurture children’s God-given creativity.
Enhancing Physical Development
through creative play, helping children learn to value and care for the bodies God gave them.

Holland Christian is excited to offer several additions to the preschool curriculum.  Students will participate in the following on a rotating basis:

P.E. (All Ages): Students will participate in physical education classes taught by Holland Christian’s P.E. teachers. Children will participate in a variety of activities to help them develop gross motor skills, spatial awareness, locomotor skills, and eye-hand coordination. Children will also learn how to relate to other children during group activities.

Music (4's and Young 5's):
Children will receive music instruction from Holland Christian’s music teachers. Children will learn about different musical elements such as melody, beat, rhythm, tempo, etc. Children will also sing a varied repertoire of songs and be introduced to a variety of rhythm and melody instruments. Teachers will discuss with children why God gave us music and how children can praise God through the use of music.

Spanish (4's and Young 5's): Children will begin to learn vocabulary and cultural lessons related to the Spanish language.

Technology (Young 5's):
Young 5’s classes will participate in instruction in the school’s computer lab. Children will be introduced to age-appropriate software and will work on developing computer skills. Classroom instruction in areas such as reading and math will be enhanced through the use of related tech activities.

Media Center (All Ages):
All preschool classes will regularly visit the school’s Media Center (library). Visits to the Media Center include a story and lesson from the Media Center Specialist. Children will also have the opportunity to checkout books to take home with them. It is our goal that visiting the Media Center regularly helps foster a love for reading in our preschool children.

Exploring God's World - Tuesday Enrichment Classes (3's and 4's):
Frequently throughout the year, preschool children will have the opportunity to participate in Tuesday afternoon enrichment classes. The theme of these classes will vary and will be led by the different preschool teachers. For parent convenience, childcare will be provided between morning preschool sessions and the afternoon enrichment classes so children who attend preschool on Tuesday mornings may be at school the entire day. Enrichment classes will cost $15/class ($20 if you choose the childcare option between classes) and parents will be asked to sign-up in advance. Class size for each enrichment class will be limited to the first 18 children who sign-up.
