Our HCS Unified Sports teams, like all Unified Sports teams nationwide, join males and females with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, officially called the “athletes,” and students without disabilities, or the “partners,” on the same teams. At any given time during games, an equal or greater number of athletes to parters need to be out on the court of field. The idea behind Unified Sports is not only to give kids with special needs a normative experience, but also to use sports as a quick avenue “to friendship and understanding” (specialolympics.org/our-work/sports/unified-sports). For questions on high school Unified Sports teams, contact our High School Unified Sports Coordinator Ann Pawloski at apawloski@hollandchristian.org, and for questions on the middle school and elementary Unified Sports teams, please contact our K-8 Unified Sports Coordinator, Erin Johnson at ejohnson@hollandchristian.org.
