SS/PR Newsletter, May 18, 2018 ~ Buzzing to the Finish

This morning we were blessed to welcome many new kindergarteners to South Side. Lord willing, these little ones will be the class of 2031! Oh my. Statements like that remind me of how big and how faithful our God is. No matter the season of life or circumstances in which we find ourselves placed, our God reigns! So, welcome to our new families! We pray that your child finds a home away from home at school. We embrace you into our community of families. We assure you that God will do great things with our partnership!

SOUTH SIDE ~ ANNOUNCEMENTS

Invitation for Final Chapel on Friday, June 1 at 10:45

We have what we believe is a meaningful tradition at South Side. On the final day of school, all of our students gather together for one final time of praise and worship followed by a communal prayer of blessing over our beloved second graders (good grief! I’m choking up just writing this!) To “send them off” our kindergarten and first grade students line both sides of the hallway and applaud as our exiting school leaders (a.k.a. second graders) walk in a tunnel of love and admiration. You are welcome to join us if you are able. We will begin our time together in the gym at 10:45 on Friday, June 1. Dismissal on that day, the last day of school, will be at 11:30.

Bunny Home for the Summer?

Have your children ever begged you for a pet but you didn’t want to commit to the cleaning/feeding responsibilities for the next 7-13 years? Boy, do I have the solution for you! Our little South Side bunny would love to move into your home (with the Rynsburger hutch) for the summer months. Right around the time your own children start neglecting the pet care responsibilities, it’ll be time to bring him back to school! Please email Miska at mrynsburger@hollandchristian.org if you would like to foster Harbor Collin for the summer months. He’s a wonderful little side kick 😉

Spanish Immersion Art Camp!

Greetings from Carolyn Stich Studio in downtown Holland. My name is Rachel Stich and I am happy to announce a summer Spanish art class for students enrolled in Spanish immersion programs in the area.

The emergence of bilingual education is so exciting and I am eager to get this program started! Spanish and art have been integral parts of my life for as long as I can remember. This love of language has led me to study in Spain and teach in Guatemala, resulting in a C1 advanced proficiency level on the DELE exam.

From the second students walk in to the studio for class, they will be greeted in Spanish and with a smile. Throughout the class, instructions will be given and conversations will be had between students and myself in Spanish. This is a unique opportunity for continued linguistic support throughout the summer whilst providing a fun and creative outlet for kids. We’d love to see your students there!

Classes will be Monday afternoons and evenings starting on June 11. From 1-2:30pm, we invite youngsters ages 6 to 11. From 7-8:30, we hope to see students from 12 to 16 years of age! Each session we will do a new project and have a great time.

Please call us or email us with any questions or to register! Our email address is carolynstichstudio@gmail.com and our phone number is (616)298-2687. Registration is also available on our website: http://www.carolynstich.com/spanish-art-camp.
