FS/SS/PR Newsletter – December 2019
As you already know, we are in the season of Advent meaning “coming” or “arrival” and how appropriate that is for us. We join Christians around the world hoping for Christ’s second coming. Advent is a joyous time full of family celebrations, work gatherings to sing carols, and sincere greetings to one another. As we venture through town from one place to another, we shop and prepare to celebrate this joyous season. No matter the season, I love watching our students when they ring bells at the red kettle downtown, sing carols with residents at the local care facilities, or play their instruments (like at the upcoming band and orchestra concert). At the top of my observation list are chapels where I almost always have a take away. The students have such a deep, deep love when praising Jesus in song, reciting verses at the microphone, or offer prayers to heal this broken world. Join me and our students as we “prepare the way for the Lord” during this Advent season.

Poinsettia Sale – Thank You
We appreciate your constant support of our school and Holland Christian in general. This year’s annual Poinsettia Sale is deemed a success. The flowers are beautiful and make a wonderful addition to your holiday decor and put smiles on many faces as you gifted them as well. Once we have final totals in we will let you know the out come. You are a blessing in our lives; we humbly thank you for your participation.
Kid’s Food Basket
The donation for the Kids Food Basket project are coming in, how exciting! The table is growing with products that will be packaged on Wednesday, December 18. The students’ experience being a “Living Testimony” as they walk the halls brining their gift to the collection table. They make comments like, “we get to pack all this stuff for other kids.” What a way to reach out during the Christmas break and have them be a part of “Kids helping Kids.” What a fun day this will be for all. Thank you for walking along side us with your children and teaching them to have a giving heart.
Swim Lessons began today, December 6 and will run through Thursday, December 19. You are welcome to stop by the pool during your child’s class time and cheer them on. Please be sure to watch your child’s teacher blog for times his/her class will be at the Holland Aquatic Center.

Total Trek Quest
Total Trek Quest is a fun, high energy program designed exclusively for boys in 3rd-5th grade! TTQ incorporates strength and stretching exercises with training for a 5K. Boys in this program will develop positive peer relationships, and feel a part of a team, while also working toward individual goals. Additional practice activities focus on developing a healthy lifestyle, social/relationship skills, how to make healthy choices, and resisting peer pressure.
Please register your son here: https://www.raceplanner.com/register/index/AOSpring2020
We’re also always looking for coaches. Coaches can be male or female and are in prime position to be a positive role model for these boys throughout this 9-week journey. Coaches don’t need to be a runner, as the program has much more to offer. All coaches receive support from TTQ staff before, during, and after the season, as well as program training & CPR certification. This is a truly rewarding experience for anyone.
If you have questions regarding registering your boy(s) and/or are interested in coaching, please contact Brandon Melnyk at email@example.com , or 616-450-4651. Thank you, and we’ll see you in the spring!
