Skating Party

School Skating Parties Are Coming!

 Pine Ridge and South Side’s are February 22, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at The Rink ~ 12521 James Street, Holland, MI 49424.   You can use a $5 West Coast Cash certificate for your $5 entry fee.   If students have own roller blades or skates they may use them.

Mom’s in Prayer

Kids stuff ReSale

Kids stuff reSale is coming up soon!!  Put this date on your calendar March 3, 2018; 9:00 a.m. – Noon in the HS Main street, 956 Ottawa Avenue.  Clothes Newborn to size 16 (girls) and 18 (Boys), Toys, books, games, DVD’s, baby gear, sports equipment, swimsuits, Dutch costumes, and maternity wear.  FLYER

Please use the Parking ling behind the HCHS off 40th Street.  $1.00 Admission for those 12 and older!  Proceeds benefit Holland Christian Tuition Grant Fund.

Fun Night

Family Fun Night!  The Great Outdoors is 3 weeks away!  Friday, March 9, 2018  5:30 – 8:00 pm at Pine Ridge.  This is a fun night for the kids and a great night for parents to connect with each other and meet other Holland Christian families.

We need LOTS of volunteers to help make this night possible.  Please consider some of the following volunteer opportunities: baking cupcakes, serving pizza for supper, working one of the shifts for a game, and donating cans of pop or other candy.

HCMS Presents Willy Wonka JR. – March 8, 9, 10

The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Holland Christian Middle School will be presenting four performances of this scrumdidilyumptious family-favorite musical and you’re invited!

Tickets go on sale Monday, February 12 and are available in any school office for $5. Performances are: 

March 8, 7:00 p.m.

March 9, 4:00 p.m. (so you can make it a family night out and go to Fun Night afterward!)

March 10, 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

2018-19 Kindergarten Enrollment

We will offer 3 Day+, 5 Day, and 5 Day Spanish Immersion kindergarten classes this fall.   Enroll online at: https://www.hollandchristian.org/admissions/k-12th-grade-application/. Please enroll your child in kindergarten by March 1 in order for us to prepare class lists. Children will need to be 5-years-old by September 1, 2018, to enroll in kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year.

2018-19 Preschool Enrollment

Preschool enrollment opens early for families with children already at Holland Christian Schools prek-12th grade February 13 from 7 am – 7 pm at hollandchristian.org/admissions/preschool-application/. (We will not process applications received prior to February 13 at 7 am.) Early enrollment will close on February 13 at 7 pm and open to the public on February 14 at 7 am. Preschool enrollment requires a $75 deposit. With our 3-year-old, 4-year-old, and Junior Kindergarten morning classes, afternoon enrichment classes, and before and after school care parents can create a fully customized preschool schedule, ranging from part-time to full-time enrollment. PINE RIDGE ANNOUNCEMENTS

HARP LESSONS

Beginner Harp Course for children aged 9-12.  Thursdays, March 8- May 3, 2018 from 3:45pm-5:15pm Midtown Center 96 W. 15th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Martha Waldvogel-Warren, Harp Instructor at Hope College, offers this wonderful opportunity in cooperation with the Holland Symphony Orchestra. Small, easily transportable instruments are provided to allow for a “peek” into the world of playing the harp to see if this is something of interest for the participant’s future. Harpists are needed at the High School level in orchestra! Instrument rental, course materials and 8 group lessons are included in the course fee of $225. All students are expected to bring their harp and provided course materials each week and return in good condition at the end of the session. Register now to avoid disappointment, space is limited to 6 students due to the number of harps available. Sports Physicals, Students moving up to Middle & High School next year

The Athletic Department of Holland Christian Schools is offering students entering grades 7-12 the opportunity to complete a state-required athletic physical. This required physical will allow your student to participate in athletic events throughout the 2018-2019 school year. Note: this exam must be dated after April 15 to be valid. Physicals will be given Tuesday, April 17 from 6:30-9:00 PM at South Washington Family Medicine (Lakeshore Health Partners, 904 Washington Ave., #210, for the nominal fee of $15. For a simple and quick appointment, we will again be using SignupGenius for scheduling appointments online. Please look for the link to be sent in an upcoming blog announcement. 2018-2019 physical forms will be available on our website and in school offices.

Holland Little League is now registering baseball and softball players for the 2018 season through Saturday, February 10th.  More information can be found on their website located at www.hollandlittleleague.com.

Ottawa County Food Resources

As you probably know, many families in Ottawa County experience food insecurity this time of year.  We would like to share an online food database created by Ottawa Food, where Ottawa County residents can search for food pantries and free meals.  This database is available in English and Spanish.  Residents can search for food pantries and community meals, either by date or location, by clicking on this link ottawafood.org/findfood.

Total Trek Quest

TTQ is a fun, high energy after school program designed exclusively for boys in 3rd-5th grade. TTQ incorporates strength and stretching exercises with training for a 5K. Boys in this program will develop positive peer relationships and feel a part of a team while working toward individual goals. Additional practice activities focus on developing a healthy lifestyle, social/relationship skills, how to make healthy choices, and resisting peer pressure.

Don’t miss the Ottawa/Allegan TTQ kickoff on February 17 at the Lost City, 12330 James St, Holland, MI 49424, from 10am-Noon! Free laser tag, mini golf and mini bowling. The whole family is welcome-boys must be accompanied by an adult.

When you are done registering your boy for TTQ, head over to the Tulip Time Run website, and register yourself so you can run with him! Use the code “ttqfamily18” and receive $4 off your registration fee! Registration can be found here.

The spring season of TTQ will start the week of February 26 and will end in May. We had a great first fall season at Pine Ridge and are looking forward to spring!  We should know the practice days of the week VERY soon—and your team is all set with coaches!
