Forest School September 2021 Newsletter
Hello Dear Forest Families!
In preparation for this new school year and in an interest to unpack the theme “Rooted” a bit, I did some digging into the history of our Holland Christian Schools. We’ve been around for a while, friends. More than a century! A LOT has changed over the past 100+ years. But I discovered our school’s mission penned from the days of our inception. Look at these missional words put together by our forefathers in 1906:
Many of these truths drive our instruction and goals at Holland Christian today. And while certainly some changes are good and important for us to embrace, I am comforted to see that the Christian School dream that was birthed many years ago continues to live vibrantly even still today. We are bonded together in this truth with our contemporaries but also with those whose shoulders we stand on. For generations, we have been and continue to be comprised of people who dearly love their children and who are willing to sacrifice greatly that their children would know and love our Almighty God. This school exists to prepare and equip the next generation to accept the gift of grace and salvation, to serve God and to know a deep and abiding joy in our resurrected Savior just as it did 100+ years ago.
This morning I stood on the sidelines looking over our bleachers full of beloved children at our annual convocation (with my own three children in the mix somewhere) I felt deep gratitude for this place, for our mission and for these people: for YOU! Friends, we have more that binds us together than that which divides us. Emotions are high right now as we are working to adjust to a new mandate and learning how to navigate student life in the midst. But we have done hard things before. We can do this work together again. In our rich history of more than 100 years, our family of Maroons have been led by God through multiple wars, the Great Depression, changes in the Church and now a pandemic. We are bound together in love and a desire for our children to be raised rooted in God through a Christian education. From that mission we are not wavering. While many things come and go, challenges may come our way, our Hope in the Risen Savior and an abiding love from our Faithful Father will see us through yet again. I’m grateful to be on this journey together with each of you!
Yours in Christ,

Kids’ Stuff Resale
Our very popular fall Kids’ Stuff Resale is Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 9 am-noon at HCHS’ Main Street. Kind of like a movable ditto store with fall-focused clothing for kids of all ages–from babies up through size 18–along with assorted baby and sports paraphernalia, the Kids’ Stuff Resale benefits not only you, but our Tuition Grant Fund as well! Plus there’s maternity clothes, Halloween costumes, toys, games–everything at ditto minus the furniture! Our sellers’ list is full, but we have lots of room for customers! The $1 entry fee for adults and a portion of the proceeds go directly to the Tuition Grant Fund that helps students of all incomes attend HC. Got questions? Contact Michelle Schaap at firstname.lastname@example.org.
