HS Newsletter – June 2020
As we end the 2019/20 school year, one like no other, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. First to our students who had learning as they knew it turned upside down and inside out, I want to say thank you. All of the things that you expected to happen this spring were replaced with at home learning, and as difficult as that was, you didn’t give up. A huge thank you goes to our parents, who in the middle of figuring out how to navigate health, economic and social implications of life with Coronavirus, also supported the learning of your high schooler at home. Please know that I speak for all of the high school staff when I say how much we have missed spending our days with your children and seeing them in person day to day. Thank you for your support as we navigated these new and unexpected changes together.
As we end this school year we ask you to join us in prayer thanking God for all His blessings over the past few months and asking for His wisdom and discernment as we plan for next year.
We pray as you transition into summer that God surrounds you with His peace, and we look forward to the day that we can gather together again as the family we call Holland Christian.
/ General Information
How to get your 19/20 grades online after June 5
- Log in to PowerSchool as either parent or student.
- Click on the “Grades History” icon on the left.
- Grades for the current school year will be listed
The columns for 2nd semester are:A2 (18 weeks of coursework), E2 (2nd semester exam will be blank because of no exams), and S2 (2nd semester final grade – this is the important one that appears on transcripts and determines cumulative GPA).
All grades will be labeled with “CV19” to indicate that the grade was part of the COVID-19 remote learning time. If you receive a grade of “CR” in a course, it means you received credit but it won’t count in your GPA.
Diplomas and Transcripts for Class of 2020
Normally we have the graduates pick up diplomas in the High School Office later in June. Since we are uncertain when the high school office will be able to open up, we do not have an exact time frame for diploma pick up. Please continue to check your email for updates on this. Diplomas will not be mailed. If a final transcript needs to be sent to your college please request it via your Parchment account, if you haven’t already done so. Beginning August 1, 2020, any requests you make on your Parchment account are no longer free.
Also, please note that the Holland Sentinel will be publishing the names of the 2020 graduates of Holland Christian High School in the June 7 newspaper. Congratulations again to all our graduates!
