MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER – NEW YEAR INFORMATION
Dear Middle School Parents,
We’re excited to start a new year with your kids! Here are just a few things for you:
Beginning of the Year at HCMS
Student Drop off/Pick Up:
Please note that we do not have access to the North side of our building due to our ongoing construction project. Our Main Entrance for the year will be located at Door C. The bus loop will be the loop closest to the school. Please do not use this to drop off your child (and tell your HS student) – this is for BUS TRAFFIC ONLY. Please click here for detailed drop off and pick up procedures.
The Office:
Is located in the first classroom on the right inside door C. Please feel free to stop in or call (820-3205) for any information or questions you may have.
BOC/Gym Classes:
BOC and Gym classes will be meeting starting the first day of school. For the first few weeks of school (until we have access to the Gym and BOC rooms), our music classes and gym classes will be meeting in different locations. The Band will be practicing at Providence Church across the street, Orchestra will be at our High School, Choir will be in our Media Center and Gym will be either outside or at Pine Ridge.
For Music classes – please bring your instruments the first day of school. Students can stay tuned for information on where they will be meeting for class.
For Gym Class on the first day of school, students will meet in the west niche. No gym clothes are required for the first day. Mr. Leegwater will go over expectations during this time.
Parent Night – August 27
You are invited to our annual Parent Night on Tuesday, August 27 starting at 7:00pm. 8th Grade parents will be beginning the night in the Media Center while the 7th grade parents visit student’s classrooms and meet their teachers. When 8th grade parents are finished, 7th grade parents will head to the Media Center while the 8th grade parents visit classrooms.

Athletics:
For Fall sports, please make sure your child is registered in Final Forms; which includes an up to date physical dated after April 15, 2019, parent signatures and student signatures. Your child will not be able to participate in practices until they are completely registered. Coaches will be using their rosters from this program to contact parents and players about practice times and locations as well as other helpful information. Please stay tuned for that information coming from coaches.
Volunteering:
If you are interested in helping in the classrooms, helping with field trips, covering lunch for teachers, please note that we will need a background check form filled out along with a copy of your driver’s licenses. Forms will be available at Student Orientation (we can make a copy of your license at school if needed).
Batons
Your son or daughter brought a baton home this past spring, with encouraging notes from teachers. After you have added your thoughts, please return the baton to their homeroom teacher. Thank you.
7th Grade Picnic
7th graders will have a special Picnic Lunch on Thursday, Aug 22, and we need your help. Please click here for more information. Thanks.
