MS Newsletter – January 2020
It is great to be back at school and back into the normal routines. There is something life giving about starting new semesters and new years. I think it is exciting to think about what can be in the future.
I was reading the following in Ephesians 6:18,19 this week. I shared these verses with the staff at our staff meeting and now I am sharing with you –
18 At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me. Pray that whenever I speak, the right words will be given to me. Then I can be bold as I tell the mystery of the good news.
Will you join me in praying for our students? I was talking to a student whose extended family had a serious car accident right before break. She shared with her uncle that her whole school was praying for their recovery. It amazed him that our school would do that. Two of her cousins are still in need of prayers as they recover from the car accident but are improving faster than expected.
Will you join me in praying for our school? We are starting the second phase of our renovation, which means that the construction project is on schedule. The plan is for the project to be done before the next school year. For our 8th graders, this is their last semester in the middle school. Unfortunately, they don’t get to be in the newly renovated school. Despite this fact, they have had a positive attitude and have handled the renovation well. I personally have enjoyed teaching and being the principal of this class. I am hoping for a spectacular final semester of middle school for them. For our 7th graders, I hope they feel like the middle school is their new home away from home even though they only have had a school building that has been under construction. This class has been a joy to work with and I continue to see growth in them as we do life together at school. I pray that all the students have a wonderful semester as we continue to work together, along with you, to equip their minds and nurture their hearts to transform the world for Christ.

Renovation survival equipment needed
As you may know, our school shrunk again. I have been brainstorming with our staff ways to improve the morning and afternoon breaks. One of the ideas presented was to get foosball and/or ping pong tables to set up in the hallway of “middle school north”. If you have these collecting dust at home, our school could use them this next semester to give more students something to do.
Just a reminder that the school doors open at 7:30 each morning. Please don’t drop off your student until that time.
Thank You from the Staff:
Parents – thank you so much for showing such love and appreciation to our staff this Christmas. The coffee, teas, and goodies have been a huge hit. Thank you so much for blessing us with these gifts and also for helping cover classrooms and volunteering in other ways over the course of our first semester. We appreciate all you do for us and for sharing your child(ren) with us each and every day. Thank you.

New Athletic Season Starts Monday – Girls Basketball and Boys Swimming/Diving
Our Winter II athletic season begins on Monday, January 13. This includes 7th and 8th grade Girls Basketball and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Boys Swimming and Diving. If your student would like to participate, you can still sign them up via Final Forms. Please make sure they have a current physical on file. Thanks.
Snack Shack Needs Volunteers!
Our next season of sports is beginning. Our request is that every family of a Middle School athlete take a turn in our Snack Shack. The Snack Shack is a way for us to provide funds for our middle school classrooms and athletics. Please consider signing up for a slot at one of our home games. Thanks.
Lunchtime Coverage Help Needed – January 22
Our Teacher Collaboration Lunch happens once a month on a Wednesday. Are you available to help monitor students? We need teacher rooms and break time covered during this time (11:15-11:50).
We are SO grateful for your help. Thank you for volunteering. By doing this, you allow our faculty time to meet as a staff. (Just a reminder: we need a background check on file in the office before volunteering. Most families filled one out at the beginning of the year – but if you are unsure, feel free to check in the office. Thanks)
