MS February Newsletter
About a year ago, on our February professional development day, the 6th grade staff met with the 7th and 8th grade staff for the first time. At that meeting we talked about many things, but one thing that came out of the meeting was agreeing on what we want from our students in each of our classes and throughout the day. The words we came up with together were: be ready, be honorable, and be engaged. As we start the 2nd semester and take a peek into each classroom, overall the students are doing each of these three things. It is a blessing to be able to see the students continually grow in each of these areas.
As we are in the planning process for our upcoming February PD day, I’m excited about the possibilities that will come out of our teachers gathering together and collaborating on how to make this middle school an even better place for your students.

MS Parent Teacher Conferences:
Conferences are scheduled for February 27 (3:30-6:30) and March 4 (5:30-8:30). Parents will receive an email from the district with directions on how to sign up for our second set of conferences of the year as that February date comes closer.
New Athletic Season Starts Soon (Winter II): Girls Basketball & Boys Swimming/Diving
Our Winter II athletic season is scheduled to start on February 8. This includes 7th and 8th grade Girls Basketball and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Boys Swimming and Diving. A bus will leave from the MS and take athletes to practice. If your student would like to participate, you can still sign them up via Final Forms. Please make sure they have a current physical on file. Thanks.
Athletic Physicals for 21/22
The athletic department anticipates the requirement of a pre-participation physical requirement (dated after April 15, 2021) by the MHSAA to participate in school sports for the 2021-2022 school year. Typically, Holland Christian offers physical night appointments for athletes to meet this requirement, but at this point in time Holland Christian is working on the feasibility of this opportunity. Athletes may need to schedule an appointment with their primary care provider between April 15 and the start of their first practice or try-out in any upcoming season.
All families with 6th-12th grade potential athletes need to be registered with our online registration system, Final Forms. For those already registered for the current year, you simply need to login, select the sports your child is interested in and update any changes to your and your child’s information. This is also the place where you print the updated 21-22 physical form to take with you to your DO/MD/NP/PA appointment and have that individual sign the form. Registration for 21-22 sports will be open and available on Final Forms beginning April 1st.
