MS Newsletter – June 2020
Thank you, again and again, for your patience and encouragement this year as we started with the school in the middle of a renovation and completed the year doing remote learning. I, and the Middle School Staff, are so thankful for your support and partnership during this time. We love what we get to do each day as we work with your kids whether we do it in person or remotely. The fact that we get to teach the students and guide them through their middle school journey is such a blessing. This year, I hope you felt the care that the staff of our middle school has for your students. I hope you noticed the growth your students have had from the rigor in academics. I hope you saw spiritual growth in your students as we teach life lessons from our Lord in our classes and during chapel. Whether your student is going to high school or going to be the leader at the middle school, I hope for them to continue to grow in all of those areas. Here is a verse to remember as we close the school year and transition into summer from Colossians 3:17
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
I hope you and your families, as well as our middle school faculty, continue to live by these words as we close out another school year. I want to send our love, prayers, and best wishes to each of your families as we start the summer. Enjoy a change of pace and a break from school. We look forward to the 2020-2021 school year. See you soon.
/ March at HCMS
Grades will be available on PowerSchool at 8am Friday, June 5. Please check in PowerSchool after this time to see the benefits of all your student’s hard work this school year!
JUST A REMINDER: IMMUNIZATIONS FOR RISING 7TH GRADERS
Immunization Requirements for rising 7th Graders: Please schedule a call/visit with your primary care physician to discuss any immunization needs for your child. All students MUST be up-to-date on their immunizations BEFORE they start the new school year. Any students without the required immunizations or approved waivers will not be allowed to enter school until they are complete and approved by the State of Michigan.
2020-2021 BOC SCHEDULES
As we plan to build student schedules for the 2020-2021 school year, we will plan to schedule your rising 8th grade student in their current Band, Orchestra or Choir (BOC) class. If they wish to move to a different music class, please inform us by sending an email to email@example.com, indicating Band, Orchestra or Choir before Friday, June 5. Rising 6th and 7th graders should also email the MS office with their choice. As stated before, every student must choose either Band, Orchestra or Choir; no study halls will be offered. Thank you!
General Athletic Opportunities and Information
We compiled a single place to access all of our athletic opportunities for students and invite you to take a look. You will be able to find more specific MHSAA sport information (including start dates) on our website for both HS students and MS students. Our 20-21 6th grade students are eligible to participate in the following MHSAA MS sports: tennis, cross country, aquatics, and track & field. Our 20-21 7th and 8th grade students are eligible for all MS sports. (Football, Tennis, Cross Country, Aquatics, Competitive Cheer, Lacrosse and Softball are all co-op sports that include Zeeland Christian students.)
20-21 School Sports Registration
All students in grades 6 through 12 who are interested in participating on an athletic team need to be registered by a parent for the sports they are interested in. Please register TODAY so coaches can communicate information about summer and the upcoming season.
MHSAA Sports Pre-participation Physical Changes
Student-athletes (grades 6-12) who have a 19-20 MHSAA physical on file will only be required to complete a 20-21 MHSAA health questionnaire. These two documents will be stapled together for a student to be eligible for 20-21 sports. Students who do not have a 19-20 MHSAA physical on file need to have a MD/DO/NP/PA complete a normal MHSAA physical for 20-21 before participation. Both of these forms are available after a student is registered. Please mail your form to your respective office:
