Pine Ridge September 2021 Newsletter
We are well underway here at Pine Ridge. It has been an exciting fews weeks and we are already seeing some great learning happening. We were able to celebrate our first day of school, our POD olympics, convocation and thanks to the heat, popsicles!!! I want to thank you for all your support and grace as we navigate these first few weeks. My hope is that we can continue to have open, honest and Christ-guided conversations together as the year progresses. I continue to meditate on the words of David in Psalms 19:14, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my hearts be pleasing in your sight, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
Mrs. Dinah Pereira
Welcome to our new office staff!
Welcome to our new office staff, Kristi Washburn and Cara Boss. Kristi and Cara love kids and are excited to be able to serve the Pine Ridge community. Kristi’s days in the office are M, W, and TH; Cara’s days are T, F. Please send email communications to both Kristi and Cara: firstname.lastname@example.org & email@example.com. The front desk phone number is the same at 616.820.3505. We look forward to having a wonderful year connecting with you and serving you!
With the announcement of building entrance protocol earlier this week I just wanted to give some background information. This is coming from a place of love and security for your children at Pine Ridge. We already ask that volunteers stop into the office for a badge and a mask. Yet now, with so many new faces in the front office at some of our elementary buildings we would like to make sure that everyone feels comfortable. We ask that if you would like to walk your child all the way to their classroom, that you stop in the office to introduce yourself. We encourage parents to connect under the awning or in the front foyer near the office. This will help with traffic in the hallways where learning takes place and help teachers to get class started quickly. I appreciate your help with keeping all kids safe and helping us continue to do what we love, educate and love kids!
Health Appraisal and Immunization Requirements
All students must be up-to-date on their immunizations! Please update your student’s required immunizations or get an approved waiver from the Health Department. We are grateful for your help with this!
The annual Walkathon is scheduled for September 15! Pledge Packets are being sent home today. The pledge packets are due back on Friday, September 10. A heads up that the date on the orange sheet says the pledge form is due September 14; it is actually September 10. There are also class prizes and a student prize to be won–check out the flyer enclosed in the packet!
Smile! School Picture Day is Thursday, September 23. Once order forms are received from GPI they will be sent home with students. They are student specific, so if you have multiple children at HC, be sure to send the correct form with each child. If you are ordering a yearbook this is the time to do that also.
September 17 there will be no PM bussing for students using Holland Public School buses. For more information, please visit the transportation page on our website linked here.
At this point we are still planning on holding Homecoming 2021, with people, food, and football for sure. Our traditional grilled picnic dinner, children’s inflatables, and bouncy houses start at 5 pm, then the varsity football game against Coopersville begins at 7 pm. The cost is $8 per person in advance, including both dinner and game, and advance tickets are available below, or it’s $10 per person at the gate. We’re looking forward to seeing you all! You can order tickets here on the Homecoming Page!
Kids’ Stuff Resale
Our very popular fall Kids’ Stuff Resale is Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 9 am-noon at HCHS’ Main Street. Kind of like a movable ditto store with fall-focused clothing for kids of all ages–from babies up through size 18–along with assorted baby and sports paraphernalia, the Kids’ Stuff Resale benefits not only you, but our Tuition Grant Fund as well! Plus there’s maternity clothes, Halloween costumes, toys, games–everything at ditto minus the furniture! Our sellers’ list is full, but we have lots of room for customers! The $1 entry fee for adults and a portion of the proceeds go directly to the Tuition Grant Fund that helps students of all incomes attend HC. Got questions? Contact Michelle Schaap at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are very excited to invite parents back into the building by providing a wide range of activities that we would like to have help with as we partner together. We would like to have parents to help with:
- Lunch recess daily 12:00-12:30
- Library check out
- Listen to students read
- Help check out/in classroom take home books
All parent volunteers will need to wear a mask and complete a background check through our HR Department which will be set up for you prior to helping at school. Thank you in advance as we look forward to having you back in our building.
