Rose Park News 4/12/19
Dear Rose Park Family and Friends,
We all know at some level how change and transition can bring uncertainty and fear into our lives. Some of us are great at celebrating change and transitions, while others of us try to shield ourselves as much as we can from from them. In either case, I’m not convinced that change is really easy for anyone. Holland Christian is continuing to experience its own level of change and transition. This isn’t the first time and it certainly won’t be the last. At a personal level, and as a still-functioning member of the administrative team at Holland Christian for just a little while longer, I am confident of God’s leading, sustaining, and providing for me personally, for Rose Park, and for the Holland Christian community. Part of what contributes to my confidence is whom God is bringing into new positions of leadership. I am grateful and excited that Mrs. Miska Rynsburger will be stepping into the role of Rose Park Principal for the next season of life here. Miska is energetic, joyful, creative, full of life, and loves God, children of all ages, and learning so very much. I appreciate Miska very much. She will be an excellent leader for the future of Rose Park. Whether you know Miska personally yet or not, I want you to hear Miska’s own words regarding her role in this important transition.
My New Dear Rose Park Friends,
This week you received news from Dr. Bultman about our administrative movement. I would like to offer you, the Rose Park community, a humble hello. I am eager to serve next year as your building principal at Rose Park. However, before we begin our introductions and sharing of stories it is right and good that we provide each other with ample time and emotion to say good-bye to our Rose Park leader and friend, Mr. Brandsen. Although we come from different vantage points, I know we all feel the same. It’s not easy to say good-bye to our much beloved Mr. Brandsen. His faith-filled and faithful leadership at Rose Park has made this community all that it is today! Mr. Brandsen has shepherded the Rose Park community through some very painful times as well as led joyfully through many exciting, innovative experiences. Mr. Brandsen will be missed. I will assist with and chime in with the chorus of thank yous and prayerful farewells when the time is right. And when the time is right, I look forward to meeting you, to hearing the story God is weaving in your life. I’m especially excited to meet and learn about every child. Caring for and loving the South Side students brings so much joy and energy to my life. I’m already dreaming of meeting our Rose Park children and becoming part of their lives. Let’s pray communally through this time of transition. I believe God has blessed this design and continues to bless Holland Christian Schools. We can, together as home and school, be God’s faithful servants and I believe God will do great things. More on the specifics of that work to come soon. May you and your family enjoy a rest-filled and/or action-packed weekend together. I look forward to journeying beside you at Rose Park soon.
Now, may you bless and be blessed this weekend in rest, recreation, and in awe-filled worship. This has been another growth, meaning and joy-filled week at Rose Park, partnering with you and the rest of the staff, equipping young and eager minds, nurturing soft and tender hearts, to transform the world for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Current HC 6th grade parents and students and any family considering enrollment at Holland Christian Middle School for the 2019-20 school year are invited to come and preview what it’s like at the Middle School. Tulip Time Is Right Around the Corner
It’s almost Tulip Time! Do you have a costume for your 1st-4th grade student? We have a limited number of costumes that will be available the week before the parade. Please, see Carla Chase in the office if you need any assistance with a costume for your child.
Also, we will have a half-day of school on Wednesday, May 8, with an 11:30 AM dismissal for all students. Buses will run their normal routes. On Thursday, May 9, students in first through fourth grades are expected to march in the Kinderparade. Please note that there will be no busing provided on Thursday at 11:30 AM. Most students will stay at school to be transported to the parade with pickup arrangements after the parade made by you and communicated with the teachers. Kindergarteners, 5th and 6th graders will have to find transportation home from school that day. Buses will not be running. Thank you.

If your little one is enrolled in traditional, nature-based, or Spanish Immersion kindergarten, please plan to join us with your Kindergartner for Visiting Day for the 2019-2020 school year on Friday, May 17th from 8:30-9:30. It will be a fun morning as your child meets his/her teacher and parents have questions answered. You will enjoy this morning’s sneak peak to see what next year will bring. More details will follow in the days to come.
New ATHLETIC 2019/2020 Information
Attention current 5th & 6th Grade students who are interested in joining the MS sports teams for the 2019-20 school year! Holland Christian will be Rolling out a new athletic online registration system. Holland Christian Schools is now partnered with FinalForms, an athlete online registration company. This email notification is for all parents of current students grades 5-11, but intended only for students interested in participating in any sport for the 2019-20 school year (grades 6-12… 6th graders are limited to participation in cross country, tennis, swimming & diving and track & field). April 15 is the first day students can complete the MHSAA required athletic physical for the 2019-20 school year in order to participate on a school athletic team. Our partnership with FinalForms requires you to register your child online for sports at Holland Christian in order to print the needed MHSAA physical form for your MD/DO/PA/NP to complete. With April 15 fast approaching, we want to ensure parents understand the new process for registering online before completing the annual MHSAA physical. If you already signed up for Holland Christian’s physical night on April 30 or plan to have your child’s athletic physical completed at your primary care physician before participation, please register your athlete online before doing so by following the instructions at the following link: https://www.hollandchristian.org/athletics/handbooks-forms/
If you still desire to sign up for an appointment at the Holland Christian physical night on April 30, 2019 for the 2019-20 school year, please sign up at the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c4eafaf2aa46-athletic
Procedures and requirements such as these are important for our organization to run efficiently and safely.
