Rose Park News 5/24/19
Dear Rose Park Family and Friends,
Annually at this time of year I think about that crazy roller coaster ride called “Top Thrill Dragster” at Cedar Point. You know the one, right? Have you experienced the thrill for yourself? Zero to 120 MPH in less than 4 seconds. A few seconds later, you’re 420 feet in the air. In the race for pure adrenaline thrills, there is one winner: Top Thrill Dragster. Nothing else compares to this high-horsepower shot into the sky. From a standing start you’re launched forward, then straight up, a brief slow down to crest the top, then straight down and back to the finish line. The ride may be over in 17 seconds, but it’ll stay with you forever.
Right now, this sounds like a pretty apt description of our school year. Zero to 120 MPH in 4 seconds with a stop that is almost as abrupt. We have been on a journey that has included many ups and downs, but we have all grown through the course of this year, for which we are extremely grateful. Some celebrating and blessing has happened already and it will continue through next week in a special 10:45AM chapel Wednesday, along with the learning and growing that will continue until the last day. And even though this year may feel like it is over in 17 seconds, it is our prayerful hope and expectation that all we have learned will stay with all of us forever.
Now, may you bless and be blessed this Memorial Day weekend in remembrance and gratitude for those who have given their lives for the freedoms we enjoy in this country, as well as rest, recreation, and in awe-filled worship. This has been another growth, meaning and joy-filled week at Rose Park, partnering with you and the rest of the staff, equipping young and eager minds, nurturing soft and tender hearts, to transform the world for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Shalom,
Rod
