Rose Park News 10/5/18

Dear Rose Park Family and Friends,

I just love this picture of Grandparents waving and looking so lovingly at their Grandkids. What a great day! I’m still basking in the glow of Grandparents Days this week in Preschool-6th grade. I love seeing so many grandparents whom I remember coming as parents to high school parent/teacher conferences with me when I taught some of you parents. God certainly is faithful from generation to generation. (How is it that Grandparents look younger and younger to me each year?) I also am blessed meeting grandparents for the first time, and may only be able to greet on an annual basis, Lord-willing, over the span of a few years. I gratefully affirm with all who come, the unique partnership we enjoy with them, as part of your families. There is something so special about bringing Grandparents and friends together with grandchildren for a couple of hours at school that brings so much joy and mutual blessing. I wish that, like staff, you could have been sandwiched between the students filling the bleachers, and the full house of grandparents in folding chairs on the gym floor singing all together, “Great is Thy Faithfulness!” There were Spirit chills all around. God was in that place, smiling over all of his kids. Thanks to all of the grandparents and friends who came. And, thanks also to our Parent Board for coordinating all of the event hosting details and decorations, and to the many parents who provided refreshments. And, thanks, of course to Mrs. Rietman, our 5th grade classroom and K-4 music teacher for planning and leading another inspiring program. We already are looking forward to next year! I will always remember a comment made by one grandparent recently when asked by her son how she enjoyed the afternoon. She replied, “My heart will be smiling until next year!” What a beautiful reply. Mine too.

As always, I pray that you may bless and be blessed this weekend with your families in rest, recreation, and in awe-filled worship. We are grateful to partner with you in equipping young and eager minds, nurturing soft and tender hearts, to transform the world for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It’s been a great first week, and we look forward to seeing your children again next week to love them and learn along with them.
