Rose Park News Blog, 5/4/18

Dear Rose Park Family and Friends,

It was a mighty wind this morning! Still, we braved the winds as we practiced our parade walking with our 1st-4th graders and their 5th grade helpers and all of our props. I was worried we might lose some of our younger students in the gale. ūüôā No students, but our cheese props were flying in the wind. Banners were pinned back. The speed of our marching was largely determined by whether the wind was at our back or our faces. It was such fun to practice and anticipate, even in the gusty wind, next Thursday’s parade. Hopefully the wind will be calmer, but no matter what, we will have a fun time.

How do I know this? We have the best staff at Rose Park. They are always positive, drawing out the best in our kids whether in or out of the classroom. Little fazes this team. They are flexible, adaptive, fun, always making the best out of every situation. I’m proud of them. I’m so grateful for each one whom God has brought to the team here at Rose Park. And they so love your children. Already, they are getting choked up and emotional to think about the soon-approaching end of the year when they will say goodbye to the students in their classrooms. I so love witnessing the bond that develops between teacher and student. It is strong, indeed, and part of the glue for us as a Rose Park community. Join me in expressing your gratitude to and for these wonderful staff member when you have the opportunity, please. They will be blessed.

Now, may you continue to be filled with faith, hope, love, and joy this weekend with your families in rest, recreation, and in awe-filled worship. This has been another growth, and meaning-filled week at Rose Park, partnering with you and the rest of the staff, equipping young and eager minds, nurturing soft and tender hearts, to transform the world for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Shalom,

Rod

Educational Support Services Update

The 17-18 school year has brought many successes but also new challenges that have made us rethink our ESS structure. The support needs of our students have changed drastically in the past few years and we need to respond to this change. Through many conversations with staff (both ESS and Gen Ed,) parents, CLC Network and students, we have decided to dedicate one ESS teacher to Inclusive education and one ESS teacher to Resource support at all our campuses. Our ESS staff are committed to providing best practice through this change and we will provide a greater update at individualized PEP meetings (should you be attending one.)  If you do not have a scheduled PEP meeting under ESS but have some questions or concerns, please email Katie Clausing, Director of Educational Support Services at kclausing@hollandchristian.org
