/ AM Preschool Class Descriptions
Classes meet 8:30-11:15 am.
Preschool is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and our preschool programs are designed with that in mind. We offer a variety of classes, schedules, and enrichment offerings so that you can create a fully customized program that fits the needs of your child and family’s schedule. A partnership with parents is important in a child’s education, so we welcome you to volunteer in the classroom (although it’s not required) and participate on field trips with your children.
3-Year-Old Preschool- English and Spanish Immersion
Your child will explore, create, and discover the beginning structures of a classroom routine in this introduction to school. Students engage in learning activities which will promote their academic, social/emotional, spiritual development. Our early childhood teachers will help her discover God’s love and how to share it with others and equip him to learn how to create positive interactions with his classmates and adults. This class is for children who are toilet-trained and will be 3-years-old by September 1.
4-Year-Old Preschool – English and Spanish Immersion
Your child will discover and expand their knowledge of letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and other Kindergarten readiness skills in this hands-on class. The preschool teachers recognize her unique gifts and developmental characteristics and will provide activities in which she will learn and grow. This class is for children who are toilet-trained and will be 4-years-old by September 1.
The content and teaching style of Junior Kindergarten is perfect if your 5-year-old needs the gift of time before starting kindergarten or your 4-year-old is ready for an accelerated experience. Our preschool staff will help you make a decision about which class is the best fit for your child. This class is for children who will be 5-years-old by December 1.
/ PM Little Adventurers Preschool Enrichment Classes
Classes meet 11:15-3:00 pm. A lunch time is part of the schedule. Students can bring a lunch from home or have a school provided lunch (available for an additional cost).
Create a customizable schedule for YOUR child! Use our Little Adventurers Preschool Enrichment Classes in conjunction with our morning preschool classes to create a full-day experience or enroll as a standalone enrichment class on the days your child is not in preschool. The program, in conjunction with the school’s Before and After School Program, can provide programming for preschool students from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm each day school is in session. Little Adventurers includes the following different classes:
Mondays – Little Travelers
This class provides an extension to our social studies curriculum. Preschoolers will be able to experience the world outside of their little communities and discover just how big God created our world.
Tuesdays – Little Scientists
Get ready to get down and get “dirty” with science and math! This class offers a STEM-based opportunity for preschoolers and features a project-based, hands-on, child-centered environment. Children make, create, and experiment with all things science and math, building a foundation for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Wednesdays – Little Athletes
Gross motor development is an essential kindergarten readiness skill as well as an important piece of a child’s physical and emotional health. Little Athletes is an enrichment opportunity focused on gross motor development. Every month this class highlights a specific skill where children learn and explore through games and hands-on activities to help strengthen those skills.
Thursdays – Little Explorers Outdoor Program
Taught in partnership with Hemlock Crossing Nature Education Center, students experience God’s creation, guided by a naturalist and HC Preschool staff. In tandem with classroom activities, preschoolers learn recycling, bird life, animal tracks, animal homes, and much more.
Fridays – Teacher’s Choice
The Teacher’s Choice class focuses on a different fun and educational theme each month dealing with everything from art, to math, to science. These activities include fine motor, gross motor, creative (music and art), and sensory experiences.
