FS/SS/PR Newsletter-February 15

Enjoy some Makers Week photos from the past week at Pine Ridge. We pray each of you are able to rest a bit and enjoy some additional family time on this PLANNED extended weekend. Your child’s teacher blogs will share the activities we celebrated this week on Valentine’s Day. What a joy it is to celebrate the gift of human relationships and love. God has designed us to live in community and, together, glorify God in encouraging and supporting one another. Your children are pros at this and often leave the adults who love them in awe and feeling inspired.

I’d like to share some other recent photos with you as well. On Friday the 15th, our entire preschool through twelfth grade staff participated in some very transformational professional development. Every day our staff  works hard to equip minds and nurture hearts so that our children are prepared well to do work in transforming the Kingdom for Jesus. It is a gift to be given time to step out of the classroom and busy learning spaces for a time in order to equip the hearts and minds of our teachers and staff members. On Friday we continued the good work being done with the leadership of the Cultural Intelligence Center. Our entire staff and faculty have worked through their transformational training program. We also engaged in several simulations regarding inequities in our community and broader society. Hearts were touched and, through tear-streaked cheeks, we vulnerably shared stories and gained new insight. Thank you for accommodating this time for staff to learn and grow together. We deeply appreciate the time and believe it was spent in impactful ways that will have lasting effects on each of our children as well.

Kids’ Stuff Resale

Come ready to purchase low-priced, but high-quality, outgrown toys and children’s clothing, Dutch costumes, baby gear, kids bikes and athletic gear! Questions? Contact Leanne Halma at kidsale@hollandchristian.org, or call (616) 820-2811. It’s $1 per adult at the door for entry, with proceeds for the HCS Tuition Grant Fund.

Open enrollment is in full swing for all students (preschool-12).  We are excited to watch the classes for this fall begin to form and fill in.  We would like to clarify a question that has surfaced.   If your student(s) are currently enrolled  with Holland Christian, there is no need to re-enroll the same student moving forward.  Think of it like a one-and-done  process. However, you will need to enroll students beginning Kindergarten, since their enrollment from preschool does not carry over to the K-12 enrollment process.

Preparing A Table

As you know, our school theme this year is Preparing A Table. We are working each day in different ways to understand what it means to both prepare a table to invite others to as well as to be invited to a table prepared for us. This year, on April 23, our preschool through fourth grade will prepare a spring program for your family. Mrs. Boer would like to play a video of pictures and clips of our families preparing a table for others in their homes. If you invite others to break bread at your table, would you be willing to take and share a picture or clip for the montage she would like to put together for the program? Please send your picture or clip to Mrs Boer’s email at sboer@hollandchristian.org  Thank you!
