FS/SS/PR Newsletter-March 28, 2019
What a joy it is for our teachers to meet and reflect on the growth of each child. We care so deeply for the academic, emotional, spiritual and social development of every child we have been blessed with. Each one is beautifully unique and, I’m grateful to say, so very loved by his/her teacher. We treasure the relationship with each family and appreciate the time you take during parent/teacher conferences to share your insight, listen to our observations and ideas and truly to celebrate God’s faithfulness in the lives of our developing children. May each of you enjoy a restful staycation or vacation! We too look forward to enjoying a break with family and making new memories. We look so forward to continuing our work together on the 8th of April after Spring Break.
Crystal Bowman, author of numerous children’s books, is meeting with our students on Wednesday, April 17. She is making a few of her books available to our families at discounted prices. If you would like to place an order, please return this completed form with payment no later than Friday, April 12. For more information on Crystal or to order more of her books, please visit www.crystalbowman.com. Book Order Form. The South Side visit will be at 9:30 a.m. and Pine Ridge visit will be at 10:30am.
We would like to thank the Parent Team for the gift of meals during the Parent/ Teacher conferences. What delicious food was served as staff were able to take a break between meeting with parents and students.
The “South Side and Pine Ridge Parent Board” invites you to another ‘Connections Night’ on Thursday, April 18th. This is a great way to socialize/meet with fellow HC parents, so mark your calendars for 7pm and join us for an evening of fellowship, location TBD. **find us on fb @ HC Southside and Pineridge Parent Team
Dress for the weather reminder
We are beginning to enjoy some warmer days, but…..the mornings are still a bit chilly and the gift of rain is ready to visit at any time. Please be sue to send a coat with your child in the morning even if warmer temps are predicted to warm up. Now is a good time to dress layered to be able to shed layers as the day warms up.
April Lunch Menu
As the end of the school year approaches we will continue to remind/ask you to please take a minute to check your child’s lunch balance. If you have not made a deposit in a while and/or want to know your balance, please email Sue firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.sendmoneytoschool.com. If you have not been getting account updates from us, we may not have your most recent email address in Power School. Please log into Power School to check your pertinent information.
If you are having financial difficulties, you may always apply for lunch benefits at www.lunchapp.com. It is easy & confidential, a response will be emailed to you within 24 hours of completing the needed information.
The lunch program is a pre-pay program and we need to be sure all accounts are paid to date before the last day of school.
Remember to share the good news of Holland Christian to others. If parents would like a tour please encourage them to call the office and we will gladly set up a time to introduce them to the building, perspective grade level teacher(s) and a sit down with the principal to answer questions.
2019-2020 TUITION GRANT APPLICATION

Preparing A Table
As you know, our school theme this year is Preparing A Table. We are working each day in different ways to understand what it means to both prepare a table to invite others to as well as to be invited to a table prepared for us. This year, on April 23, our preschool through fourth grade will prepare a spring program for your family. Mrs. Boer would like to play a video of pictures and clips of our families preparing a table for others in their homes. If you invite others to break bread at your table, would you be willing to take and share a picture or clip for the montage she would like to put together for the program? Please send your picture or clip to Mrs Boer’s email at firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you!

Tulip Time Fun Run
It’s tough to believe when our temperature peeks right around 11º in the afternoon, BUT spring time is on the way! It always comes! And with it comes Tulip Time! Last year we had a group of Mini Maroon Platoon Runners who participated in the Tulip Time Fun Run. This event is in the works again this year! If you have a mini runner who would like to participate in the excitement of Tulip Time, take a peek at these details! The Kid’s Fun Run will take place on May 4 at 9:00 am. Put a maroon shirt on your child (if you’re plumb out of maroon shirts, stop at the South Side office, we have a selection you can pick from) and lace up those shoes! This fun run is intended for children 8 and under. The running and playing our children do every day at recess is sufficient training for the course (it’s less than a 1 mile run). If you register before April 15 you’re guaranteed a t-shirt!
You can register here. Our team name is: MiniMaroons. The password: gohc
Please don’t hesitate to find Miska if you have registration troubles. In the meantime, hold onto the hope that spring WILL return! …one day….we think…. 😉

HC Summer Soft Ball Camp
Girls Softball (6-8 grades) We are excited to offer a middle school level softball camp at the beautiful HC varsity field for summer softball fun! Campers learn the softball essentials of batting, fielding, base running, throwing techniques, and the role of specific positions, all helping middle school players to take their game to the next level–while also growing in love for the game! The camp is lead by varsity softball Coach Bruns with support from the other HC softball coaches and varsity players, creating time and space for one-on-one attention and skill improvement, while in a positive Christ-focused environment. We use the sport of softball and competition as a way to learn life skills and Christ-like attitudes. For more information go to https://www.hollandchristian.org/summer-camps/
