Preparing A Table

As you know, our school theme this year is Preparing A Table. We are working each day in different ways to understand what it means to both prepare a table to invite others to as well as to be invited to a table prepared for us. This year, on April 23, our preschool through fourth grade will prepare a spring program for your family. Mrs. Boer would like to play a video of pictures and clips of our families preparing a table for others in their homes. If you invite others to break bread at your table, would you be willing to take and share a picture or clip for the montage she would like to put together for the program? Please send your picture or clip to Mrs Boer’s email at sboer@hollandchristian.org Thank you!

Protect Young Eyes Community Event

Last year Holland Christian brought in Protect Young Eyes to talk to students and parents about the amazing responsibility we have using technology. Parent feedback on the presentation was that it was very valuable. If you missed the presentation, or would like to attend again, Third CRC in Zeeland, along with Zeeland Christian School, is sponsoring another Protect Young Eyes program on Thursday, November 29 at 6:30 pm at Third CRC. The event is free and open to the community.

Visitor Sign In

One of the most important components that we value in our partnership between home and school is keeping your child safe during the time you have entrusted us with loving and growing your child. The administrative team recently met with a team of safety specialists from Ottawa County, Allegan County and the State of Michigan. At South Side and Pine Ridge we have found two areas we can improve our security.  Above you see a photo of our new sign-in name tag book. Rather than using the lanyards with a “visitor” label, every campus at Holland Christian will identify our visitors using these name tags. Our procedure is the same as it has always been. Please come and visit at school anytime. We ask that you stop in at the front office and complete the information on these name tags so that staff can easily see which visitors have checked in at the office. Additionally, rather than unlocking our doors during the preschool pick up time at 11:15, our doors will remain in the locked position all day. When picking up your preschooler, please use the buzz in process like we do during the regular school hours. We hope you will see this as a safety measure that keeps your child secure in our care and know that we welcome your presence at school as always!

We need your help please

We are looking for more recess assistance on the playground during the noon hour.  The time commitment is 11:45 – 12:30.  We need help on most Mondays and Wednesdays and some Thursdays.  Please stop in the office for more details and see if you can put a few dates on your calendar.  Your help would be  appreciated.
