Tuition Reduction Incentive Plan (TRIP) 101 Gathering
- When? Tuesday, April 24 at 6:30pm
- Where? Ferris Coffee on 8th Street (formerly JPs)
TRIP is a program that directly benefits Holland Christian families by reducing tuition cost for those who use the program. Participants purchase gift certificates or ecards (via online or a paper order form) through Holland Christian to shop at hundreds of retail stores, gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. The participating businesses sell the gift cards to HC at a discount and then Holland Christian sells them to you at face value and tuition credit is earned. Anyone–parents, grandparents and friends can be participate in TRIP and designate their earnings towards any enrolled HC family, future family, or the HC Tuition Grant Fund. Come join us for an informative, casual gathering. This isn’t your parents’ TRIP anymore. Learn about the different ways to order TRIP cards, the great new options available for instant ecards, and how to reload TRIP cards without entering a HC school.
Organized by Jordan Kleinheksel and Karen Gorter
HCHS Spring Production
Performances for the HCHS spring production, The Westing Game, are just around the corner – April 19, 20, & 21!
We are producing The Westing Game in a black-box style, meaning the audience is seated on-stage, on three sides of the performance space. All seats are good seats, and due to this creative staging, we are selling tickets as General Admission. So, you will not be picking seats when you buy your tickets.
The production is based on the Newberry-winning mystery novel by Ellen Raskin, and suitable for the whole family. We hope to see you there!

South Side ~ ANNOUNCEMENTS
Book Back Party
We are thrilled and so grateful for our team of volunteers who work so diligently in our elementary libraries keeping materials orderly and resourceful. Mrs. Hofman works so hard to maintain three enriching libraries at our elementary campuses. At our South Side library we have a bit of a perfect storm….and storms and libraries don’t pair well as you might imagine. Several of our volunteers have had to reduce their hours for a variety of reasons and at the same time several grade levels have been engaged in research which involves a massive increase in books being checked out. We are wondering if we could hold a “Book Back Party”. On Wednesday, April 18 from 12:30-3:00 we are looking for a team of individuals who would be willing to give up an hour or so to be shown how to reshelve our books (that will include a free crash course on the Dewey Decimal system!) in our South Side library. If you have the time and are willing to spare an hour to return our library to tip top shape, would you please email Miska at email@example.com . We will even provide refreshments to help make the work fun and delightful. More importantly, we hope the feeling of knowing you are an integral part of making your child’s education excellent will be rewarding as well. Thank you for considering!
Kindergarten Visiting Day
We are excited and prepared to welcome our newest kindergarteners for next school year already! If your little one is enrolled in traditional kindergarten (our nature-based kindergarten and Spanish Immersion welcome events will be held separately) please plan to join us with your Kindergartner for Visiting Day for the 2018-2019 school year on Friday, May 18th from 8:30-9:30. It will be a fun morning as your child meets his/her teacher and parents have questions answered. You will enjoy this morning’s sneak peak to see what next year will bring. More details will follow in the days to come.
Pine Ridge ~ ANNOUNCEMENTS
After School & Before School Carpool Reminders
Just a reminder the front entrance doors and south side doors are open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. to access the building. All entrance doors will be locked down the rest of the school day. This is a new system-wide policy. If you need to enter the building after these hours, you must access the building at the front entrance (covered door area). The new security system and camera are on the wall just before the entrance doors. Please push the button and wait at the camera for recognition and further communication. Once you have been cleared to enter, the automatic door will make a clicking sound and will unlock. Please come to the office and sign in before proceeding to other areas of the building. Thank you for your cooperation and helping us keep your children safe!
1. Cars please do not use the entrance off 40th Street between 7:45am – 8:10am, and also 2:45pm and 3:30pm. This is for Bus use only.
2. Make sure the bus circle stays clear of cars at all times. We can make this easier for all if you pull forward as we do during pick-up, so there is plenty of room behind you for others to do the same. Busses need that extra room to turn around and use the 40th street exit and are on a tight route schedule for student drop off and pick up. We have had some close calls when busses swing out to make the turn around and cars have been stopped in the circle. During these drop off and pick up times, students should not be loading or unloading in the traffic circle! This is for your safety as well as the children.
3. If you plan on exiting your vehicle to pick up your child between 2:30pm and the end of the day, please park either North of the bike racks or along the woods side (far west side) of the parking lot. This will keep the loading zone clear for parents to line up for after school parent pick up.
4. When you are in the loading zone area, please do not pull forward (DO NOT LEAVE) until the teacher alerts you to do so. We need to make sure all the students are safely loaded into vehicles within the loading zone, before cars start to move forward!
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your children safe!
